SMS problems on Orange.

lol, something quite funny and embarrassing just happened. “Dhaneesha” txted me some mins ago…

What’s the problem?

Well, from the message, I could guess it was her, but the sender’s number was that of someone else!

I told to myself “Perhaps she is using some other number!”

So, I replied her on this new number (no need to say, there was some *private* words in it)

and a few seconds later, my phone rang… tringggg tringgggggg

Guess what? That number was calling me… I took the call, and to my surprise, a male voice asked my name and why I had send him a text.

I immediately understood that Orange did it again!

The person at the other end told me that he received my message and that his sms were not going through since minutes. We concluded that Orange was the one responsible! Don’t know how or why, but the numbers got messed up in Orange’s network!

pfff! Moral? Anything can happen, with Orange!

    1st situation000>When I complained to Orange since they were charging me Rs1.00 for every sms I was sending I was told that my mobile was not good,ect..
    2nd–>When I complained to them again because messages were getting lost..Never getting delivered ect, I was again told that my mobile is not good..

    Ha..Orange is just being an a-hole again..Making money in a really nice way!!

    Orange has limited number of new numbers available and they are recycling old numbers and giving it back to customers or people who haven’t yet registered their sim. At their servers, there is a private software which controls all incoming and outgoing sms, this software is linux based and is known to have some bugs when proper update of entry is not done.

    I have witnessed cases where 2 people are using same numbers simultaneously, for example, i call 765 4321 (User 1) and the call is diverted to another phone of same number 765 4321 (but User 2)

    This is caused when a customer has not used his simcard and that orange has disactivated it, and the number is put in use again without the data entry operator deleting the old entry.

    Thus, old entry + new entry (same number) -> 2 person 1 number = Trouble.

    Got that same problem at the time it was still cell plus and once my girl friend recieved an sms from my number but that wasn’t sent by me and half of the msg looked like that: “&$%#¥€?” this ended up in a fight with my gf. Thought that this problem was fixed now. Shame on them

    Never had this issue…………………….with EMTEL !!! but one complain though. for emtel users, dont bother to get a strong signal reception inside MT premises. even when standing close to a window. could it be that MT is using a signal jammer against their competitor, like those used in prison?

    heh got the same prob last week..thought she was smsing on another num…replied to her on tht num…lol! Then mob rang and was asked who was it…lol!!

    Damn orange. That’s a very serious problem selmen. Can’t trust the network to send some serious or confidential stuff.

    BTW Yashvin, the guy “anonymous” above is not Jevin from anonymous.keepmetal. :S He was away yesterday and not online. And it seems like the guy did not use his real email address because the gravatar did not show up. I think we should inform him of this. Weird, huh!

    Can we have more details plz … just mentioning that the software is Linux based and is buggy does not help really. It gives the impression that Linux is buggy … I dont like that

    Man. U r a new breed of journalists. Just investigate how many people r havin probs nt just with Orange mobile but also Orange internet ADSL. Add to it UOM(management probs), STC, NTC, CWA, CEB, Air Mts, Automatic pricing mechanism (APM), and also those governmental institutions that I cant fink of nw and I cay Government=trouble 4 us Mauritians. Poor helpless people in Indian Ocean who have always suffered patiently n it shall continue coz we r Mauritians. Forebearers by excellence….

    I never said Linux is buggy. I use Linux myself and compared to Windows, its world difference. If you read well i mentioned clearly that “this software is Linux based and is known to have some bugs when proper update of entry is not done” . . . WHEN PROPER UPDATE OF ENTRY IS NOT DONE.

    As for you people, if you want to be sure that you or your friend is not using a duplicate sim card with same number as another person and that you don’t want to encounter same problem, drop by a Tele-shop and ask them to check if there is duplicate entry of your number in their system. If they ask you why to check this, tell them about the problem mentioned above.

    This isen’t the only that doesn’t work at orange. Their counter for using the web has also gone haywire. They charged me rs35 for only going on the mobile version of the google search. When I complained they told me that there was a virus on my device and it was downloading things without my permission and when I told them that I got the same problem with 7 of my other phones she told me that I had viruses on them all!

    Being a former user of Orange (at that time Cellplus), I am aware of these technical glitches. Sometimes I used to get sms from my girlfriend but the number displayed was something like +230000.

    It was clear that something was wrong with the network as I got these types of numbers from may friends when they were texting me.

    But Customer Service said that my mobile is to be blamed.

    Since then, I switched to EMTEL and I never looked back again. lol

    Problems on Orange 3G? I have one of their new 3G keys.. Orange shop assured me it would work where I stay. Not so.. it picks up HSUPA, which I’m told is the best of the 3G networks (not surprising, can see the cellphone tower from my house) BUT, the nework utilisation rate is SO poor – e.g. 0.1%, means I can’t use internet (eg hotmail, google, facebook) but luckily, can skype. Someone has told me network utilisation is to do with the line capacity running from the cellphone tower back via cables to the MTelecom system, and so have been told there’s nothing I can do…. is this correct? Does anyone understand this stuff? Cheers! :)

    To TJL….u see a cellphone tower…maybe it wasnt 4 orange mobile,zats why u got signal poor..Orange & Mauritius Telecom have different cell Sites

    When people talk about 3G on their orange number,m gagne rier…first of all,orange dnt have 3G services,its just that they are using 3G frequency band on their system(found at the cell sites)…zats why ur mobile indicates the logo 3G….i worked at Emtel,i know which mobile operator is the best, :P
