Guess Where? (May 2009) – Eiffel Tower in Mauritius?

2 May 2009 33 Comments

Ok Ok, its not exactly the famous Eiffel Tower which most of you know.

It is a miniaturized copy of the Eiffel Tower.

I am pretty sure that many among you did not even know its existence in Mauritius!

So, the game of today is about finding/guessing the location of this tower…

Mauritius' Eiffel Tower

[Click on image for larger picture]

As you can see, it is actually in renovation…

I am sure there will be quite a lot of winners for this one… Quite easy for those who live in the region.

Even if we have plenty of answers, I hope that I have made many discover this part of our island.

btw, I will give a prize for the next game, my promise!

Let’s start… Guess where?

Please provide the name of the exact location.

@Saajid : No, it can’t be on a beach somewhere in the universe lol!

@ReenaDKL : Don’t quote all the places you have been :P

btw, I am currently looking for other interesting pictures from all round the island, feel free to mail me!

UPDATE (3May09)

99.9% got it right!!!

This picture of the miniaturized (copy of) Eiffel Tower had been taken in Curepipe.

Congrats to all of you.

Instead of quoting the name of the winners, here are their comments  listed below!

Keep tuned for the next game, and I will be looking for a price to offer :-)

    I know I know!

The miniature Eiffel tower is found in Curepipe! It’s in a place called “The Sablonniere”. I’m not sure what this place has become now but if I remember well, it used to be a historic house open to the public. The Eiffel tower is in the gardens.

It is in Curepipe Forest Side area

The place is a shop selling apparently duty free persian carpets

It is a real arabian type of market. Price quoted for a carpet can start say with 10,000 Euros. After bargaining, you buy it for 100 Euros, and still leave with a bitter taste and wonder whether you have been conned

Run by some enterprising Pakistani or Kashmiri family

Even have your carpet delivered at the airport (you worry whether you would ever see it again)

Wow it’s absolutely lovely and marvellous .However we can’t compare it to the real one .Still it is located in the beautiful garden of Mr oxenham. This discovery of Eiffel tower for me i dedicate it to my friend ‘late Doctor Rajen hurdowar ‘ who took me there.
