The final official results for the General Elections 2010 proclaimedÂ :

“Alliance de L’avenir” of Navin Ramgoolam : 41
(including a 3-0 in the constituency No5 – Triolet/Pamplemousses)

“Alliance du coeur” of Paul Berenger : 18

“FSM” of Cehl Meeah : 1

Of course, how can we forget the “exceptional” performance of the Leader of Party Malin?
According to the info I received, 752 people have decided to put a X besides his name.

Personally, I wished for a more balanced distribution of the seats in the National Assembly. Anyway, the population has voted and brought down the pride, selfishness and behavior of some people…

I was shocked. Even before starting his speech after the announcement of the results, the leader of MMM made his usual stupid comments, namely about the microphone. Â Hope he realises his errors during the next years and hopefullyÂ he might change for his own benefit…

Finally, on a last note, I will ask some of my friends :

Motocyclette, Pas doubler dans gauche papao!!!

After spending a superb night camping in Flic en Flac with Nitin, Vissen, Elie, Ashley, Charles and Yash, I woke up at 10am and decided to return back home. I was feeling sick and could not stand the sight of bottles anymore.

So, I drove back home and on the way, I dropped 2 of them in Port Louis. And right in front of “Cinema Anand” in Triolet, a motocycle hit the side of my car while I was turning to my right. The picture below best describes the accident.

The motorcycle came out from nowhere and crashed right into the front passenger’s door of my car. I stopped the car immediately and got out to see what happened. Fortunately, the rider got up and was not hurt. And at that moment, I saw his police uniform on him. Yes, he was a police officer and he was overtaking other cars from the left…

Then, I parked my car a few meters away to discuss what we should do. Â My car did not get any scratch but his motorcycle was a bit damaged. I explained to him how he was at fault by driving in that way. He kept his mouth shut and asked me to accompany him to a garage to get his motorcycle repaired. I told him that I was not going to pay a cent from my pocket and if he wants, we can do a “Constat Ã l’amiable” or file a police case. We met in the police station where he refused to do an agreement between us.

I was OK for a police case since I knew that I was not the one to be blamed. As more police officers surrounded us to hear about the accident, I felt even more confident that I was not at fault. I refused to accept any guilt and the police officers there started to write down the details.

We got into a police vehicle and went to the accident spot for marking the point of impact. The rider (police guy) tried to give another version by marking a different point of impact so that he could trap me. I clearly said that it was much far away and the proof : Fresh traces of petrol could be seen at the point where he crashed into me and he fell off his motorcycle.

Then, we got back to the police station and after some 30mins, he sent another officer to tell me if I would agree to go on with an agreement (“Constat Ã l’amiable”). I said yes and finally, the guy decided that it was not so serious. I am sure that the reason behind this stepping down is that as a police officer, he knows that he will lose the case.

He told me that he is cancelling the case and there won’t be any need to do any agreement.Â Before I left the police station, we both signed in the diary book to set everything on paper.

And that makes another additional proof that confirms that I know how to drive confidently on the roads

#FAIL and Shame at you, driving your 2 wheels carelesslyÂ despite being a police officer!

Sure, I lost nearly 2 hours today but at least, this accident gave him a small lesson about how he should be driving

We watched “3 idiots” in Cinema Anand

The famous Cinema Anand of Triolet reopened it doors in the month of November 2009 after quite some years of inactivity. Totally renovated, the cinema immediately created a different atmosphere in the busiest part of the longest village of the island. Indeed, the inhabitants of the village as well as those from the neighbouring regions are quite numerous to go back to the cinema hall which was a source of entertainment for years.

I still remember those days when students from my primary school went to watch a few cartoon films, some sort of “outing”

Yesterday, we went to watch the bollywood movie “3 idiots”, which is being played since some time. I was quite amazed by the inside of the cinema hall, especially by the amount of space in between the rows of chairs (See below).

For instance, there is no space left when I take a seat in Cinema Star, but in the new cine, there was plenty of space.

The room was equipped with brand new seats (roughly estimated to be around 250-300) and the quality of sound was up to my expectations.

On my way out after the film, I shot this which I believe is surely the old film projector used some 10years ago.

As for the film, it was superb!

Personally, I will give it a 10/10 and I think that most of us really enjoyed both the cinema and the film.

It was also nice to meet a few old friends there, for example Amishi ( & Co.) and Sapheena.

On a last note, I am happy that Triolet has got back its cine, making it one of the best villages of the island!

btw, the film is so entertaining that we will be watching it again tomorrow, but this time in Caudan

Cycling along the northern coast

As some of you already know, yesterday I cycled from Triolet to Grand Bay, via Pointe Aux Piments, Trou Aux Biches, Mont Choisy and Pointe Aux Cannoniers.

It was really fun, except that the next time (if ever), I should

bring a hat
prend ene coussin (derriere vine dibois lol)

The most painful part was the return journey, especially along the long straight road from Grand Bay to Triolet, and I had to limit my speed to 60km/hr!

From this small drive, I burned some calories (worth Rs150 of petrol) but most important of all, it was really fun+ I discovered 2 beaches in Pointe aux Cannoniers!

First of all, while looking for some stuff a few days ago, I was surprised to see that even Wikipedia has an article on Triolet lol and a group on facebook! nice!

Update 1

Yesterday, I read that Triolet has a new she-president in the brand new village council locals. That’s great news! [source]

Also, in the same article from l’express, there are roughly about 23,300 trioliens! btw, for those who missed some days during primary school, Triolet is the longest village in Mauritius.

There’s a new speed hump in the “Anand Square”, and unfortunately, it is the new model! Personally, I avoid passing through this speed hump!

Some new companies moves to Triolet in the ex-Mamouth, TFP, some cloth factory shop building.

I am not sure, but it seems that the Bramer Bank as well as BAI will have their offices there. ATMs have already been installed and large logos have been placed on the building.

Haha, I think it is the most unlucky building in Triolet. After being occupied by Mamouth for years, TFP moved in followed by other companies, but they had to close down their shutters after a few months.

Lets hope that this change brings some chance!

Just a little note ; SBM, MCB, First City Bank, Banque des Mascareignes, Winners, Shell, Total, Courts, JKalachand, IBL Domestic Appliances, Galaxy, Mauritius Telecom and MTML Offices.

These are some of the companies which are already present in the village. In addition to these, there are also about 3 bakeries, a fire station, a police station, a post office ( + other usual govt offices), loads of pre-primary, primary schools and colleges.

Update 6

The abandoned pumping station found besides the Police Station is back into operation! From what I noticed, Shell has re-opened the station and is already operational, if am not mistaken.

Trioliens surely remember that each time they entered the station for a refill, the answer was 90% “Pena l’essence!”

Orange Olympic Walk n Run for Fun in images

It was a totally unexpected visit to the “Orange Olympic Walk n Run for Fun” event held today at Mon Choisy.Â While returning back home after recharging my orange account, I noticed loads of people running and walking towards Mon Choisy. Its only then that I remembered about the event which was highly advertised since the last days. Advert shooting in Triolet

On my way to purchase todays’ newpaper, there was an strange animation in some part of my village.

Unusual traffic jam along the famous Anand Square of Triolet!

An oxen cart was ‘parked’ along the road side, on dougle double yellow lines, only 2 meters from a policeman!

Flowers selling stalls were set up a few places.

The most weird one was this:

There was an old volswagen minor moris on a tow vehicle, and a few people were around it, putting make up to the woman driver :S

A few meters away, I understood the reason behind all these scenes!

A Camera! A Huge one!

It was just like in the film Billu Barber in which a Shooting Crew landed in a village MEGALOL !

btw, nice film indeed!

I then asked one of the crew members what was all this about? film, advert?

Then he told me that it was the shooting of a Nestle Advert by Indians.

Lets wait, I would like to see this advert (where part of it was shot in Triolet)

Triolet has a new MCB

Hi everyone…

The work behind this post started since Sunday, the 11th Nov 2008, when big machines were bringing down the old MCB of Triolet.

The day after, on the 12th Nov 2008, the new bank which was already built behind the old one started to work already!

And a few weeks after, the old bank completely dissapeared, giving a new look to the MCB of Triolet.

With this new bank, there are more parking slots, a much nicer view, and modern building…
