There was a singer at big building with Emtel Advertisment the traffic lights at between 17:00 and 18:00. The picture in the middle top row below Quelques photos on this page. Does anybody by chance know, who this great guy with the impressive voice is?
Kind regards,
Marcus

Hi all! Was at the 24/7 festival at Grand Bay on 19th of December. It's more like an event with animations, musics ...
It's quite a good thing for Mauritius because people are coming and it's friendly.
People get out of their houses and see other part of the island.
Not really sure the shops are making much more sales ... but it's better than having a dead island with everything closing a 5 pm and nothing to do during the evenings.

Well, the 24/7 is not really to open the shops all night i think.<br

My major problem were the traffic jams. I spent 2hrs getting to Grand Bay, and out! Got a small parking in front of a shop, in the back-streets of Grand Bay. Not too far from the center, fortunately.
About business being made, I personally did not see many people shopping. Most were sitting on the beach, watching the concert.
24/7 in other countries doesn't work like that. It's nothing special for them. It's just that people don't have time during the day, so businesses have gradually started opening at night to cater for people wanting to do stuff after work. Restaurants open to allow people to dine out, then maybe a trip to the theater or cinema. Or just casual shopping.
In Mauritius, it's like a festival. So much that at Grand Bay, I thought it was a night-time fancy fair. I guess Mauritians are just not used enough to the concept of dine-out night-life.

Was there. Not much to do though. Energy wastage !!
Should sensitize the population on wasting less energy and buying near their own places ! Surely this is irresponsab ! surtout ek problem pollution ek climatique !
